Running slow takes some getting used to, although after six months, it’s pretty easy to find a rhythm. But to do this, you need to strap on a heart rate monitor while you run. The MAF number from 180-age is total bullshit with zero science behind it. Running in Z1/2 is still great way to keep heart rate down, but Maffetone is a bit of a charlatan and his 180-age formula is baloney. Better to base training on your max heart rate and ignore your MAF number.
