My son was driving it and hit a hole and got stuck and that's when it started. It sounds like a belt needs replaced. Note the pto won't engage at all. I'm curious if anyone else had any input before I dive into it.
Tractor. New Holland TC45D. TC45D with with bad netural safety switch. Switch ordered. To complete mowing job today, netural safety switch by passed with jumper, tractor started fine. While mowing tractor shut down. #2 fuse blown, replaced, tractor restarted. While running, glow plug indicator came on, tractor shut down, fuse #2 replaced.Cause 1. PTO Clutch. I hope someone wiser can come up with a better explanation and a cure to avoid a tractor split. JC, Sep 22, 2008 / 4610 PTO stopped working #15.So I pulled out the rear bearing seal at the back of the tractor, above the PTO output shaft and gently wiggled the top shaft out. It was extremely painless. The lower PTO output shaft was equally painless. I can get to and removed 4 bearings. They are 2 each NSK 6207 and KOYO 6306. Time to open the wallet and order a new PTO shaft and slide gear.

I also having the same problem with the 4wd lever. I have read manual and following it, but It is so difficult sometimes that the levers are bending. It has always been difficult to engage but now I can move the handle full forward with a gread deal of effort but it is obvious that the linkage is giving and nothing is actually moving.It has two settings for the clutch and you can't engage the PTO unless you use adjust the clutch pedal to its highest point. In the past it was fine but I always had to put tractor in reverse before the pto would engage. from that point on I would put into drive and increase rpm to desired point and go. Now it wont engage at all.
On my new holland there is a pto lever on the side behind the seat. It sets the function of the pto. Middle is neutral. The forward and back settings engage the pto inside the trans. They both have different functions, but make sure you are in either of those. Otherwise the pto won’t engage at all.
