When you play the horn it resonates in your head, therefore you'll have to turn up a bit to hear the mix above the natural resonation. I have had one for a couple years. Good horn, but I "cheated" and had Ken Beason do his benchmark setup on the horn. I've got the 85% copper, which produces a warmer sound. You shouldn't have to pay full retail; got mine for $800 less than the 1st price quoted.The Selmer S80 C* bass mouthpiece is excellent. The OD of the Selmer bass neck that fits the Selmer Bass mouthpiece is 0.700". This is slightly larger in diameter than most of the vintage bass instruments that are more common. The Yani Metal 7 Soprano piece is a great piece, very well made and easy to control from bottom to High F# & G.
